Suzanne Weterings
Suzanne Weterings loves writing and nature. She is an ecologist and children’s book writer. With her debut collection Een krekel in mijn slaapzak (A cricket in my sleepingbag) published by Querido (2021), she inspires children to look better at the plants and animals around them. She takes children on a journey of discovery through the wonders of nature. There is always something to see, hear, smell or taste outside. Een krekel in mijn slaapzak was nominated for the Golden Poetry medal 2022 and was the theme title for the Children’s Book Week 2022.
In April 2024, her second collection of poems Zomersneeuw (Summersnow) was published by Querido, also about nature. In November of the same year, her picture book Joes de poes (Puss Joes) was published by Uitgeverij Gottmer. The book is about a child’s love for her cat. Joes remains the sweetest cat, even though he is sometimes naughty. Suzanne Weterings has written textbooks for Zwijsen Publishers, including the collection of poems Ik pluk de hele wereld leeg.
